2C News - August 2019

We're in a new financial year, and it's always a good time to reflect on our achievements from last year and look forward with optimism as we head into 2020. 2Construct have been busy with various projects coming to completion and a few new ones about to get underway.

Congratulations are also in order. Our Director's Duncan and Peter recently celebrated 15 years of 2Construct. Thanks to our clients, staff and suppliers (many of whom attended an eventful evening) for your support over the years and we look forward to many more productive years ahead.

Our recently completed projects provide Melbourne with a new public open space in Carlton and a major sports facility for Lalor.

University Square has gone green.

The first stage of University Square’s redevelopment in Carlton is now complete and has given some much-needed attention to both Leicester Street and Pelham Street. Sections of Leicester Street adjacent to University Square have been demolished and now provide for a 5m wide north-bound lane and dedicated bicycle path/pedestrian thoroughfare. Pelham Street, on the other hand, has a new park entrance and pedestrian crossings, plus new garden beds with ample seating. The famous temperance fountain has been relocated to feature at the new Pelham Street entrance.

Brand New Sports Facilities for Lalor.

Construction of the Mosaic Recreation Reserve and Community Soccer Pavilion is now complete and provides essential new facilities to one of Melbourne’s fast-growing outer suburbs.

Built over approximately 46,000m2 of existing parkland, includes a 900m2 single storey community soccer pavilion adjoining 16,000m2 of soccer pitches (both synthetic and natural grass) plus 3,000m2 of carpark.

Construction is underway....

Station Street Mall in Frankston is getting a makeover!

As part of the Frankston City Council Masterplan, Station Street Mall will be transformed into a safe, flexible, and green public space; connecting the Station to Bayside and Shannon Mall, reinvigorating the heart of Frankston's retail precinct and providing for outdoor dining throughout the area.

The works include the construction of a modular timber deck, including structural steel framing, foundations, new festoon lighting and street lights, stormwater drainage, new planters and seating, landscaping and market umbrellas along Station Street in Frankston.

A new Soccer Pavilion for the City of Casey.

Victorians are passionate about their football, and record numbers of males and females are signing up to play football in Casey. A new female-friendly pavilion will be constructed at Casey Fields thanks to the Labor Government’s Growth Areas Infrastructure Contribution program, and 2Construct are delighted to announce that we have been awarded Head Contractor for the construction of the Pavilion.

The new 1,025m2 single level sporting pavilion will service the new sports fields which are currently under construction for the City of Casey. The pavilion will house eight female-friendly change rooms, umpire facilities, accessible change facilities and public amenities, storage, first aid, and community areas including an undercover spectator area. The pavilion is expected to be ready for play in early 2020.
