Written by 2Construct | Feb 9, 2019 7:48:00 AM

The project extends and enhances the University's existing main pedestrian spine, improving the ease with which the campus can be navigated. It provides an opportunity for interaction for the pleasures of nature or just a pleasant walk. The project involved an extension of the existing Spine pavement extending from the University Hub through to the car park while ensuring the continued aesthetics, quality, and finish of the existing pavement.

Works include demolition, extensive paving, landscaping, drainage, provision of power, water and comms, the installation of lighting, furniture and bollards and the construction of two bridges and the construction of a wooden 'boardwalk' structure and riparian landscaping, and an upgrade to the existing unsealed car park.

Works to extend the width of the pavement included the incorporation of activity ‘pods’ for student amenity and Trigen services to facilitate future campus building development.

The project was awarded the VIC Landscape Architecture Award for Civic Landscape 2016 by the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects.
