University Square Civil and Streetscape Works - Stage 2

Works include demolition of existing pavements, roadways, footpaths and landscaped areas, with recovery and reuse of bluestone kerbs, channels and heritage pavers where required. Barry Street will be upgraded through expanded parkland, new swales, boardwalk crossings, gardens and trees, raised street levels to create flush footpaths and access lanes, new and renewed footpaths, reconstruction of affected underground asset pits, and installation of new civil assets, lighting, furniture, traffic provisions and signage.

Plaza works include demolition of existing hardscape and landscaping over the underground carpark, protection of the carpark structure, complete renewal of waterproofing (including drainage upgrades and third-party auditing), reconstruction of steps, ramps and retaining walls, new planting, furniture, lighting and provision for public art.

General requirements include staged construction, site protection, environmental and waste management, recycling of demolished materials, dust, noise and vibration monitoring, contaminated soil reuse where permitted, protection and permitting around underground services, and relocation of the Telstra line crossing Barry Street.
